Ukraine humanitarian crisis
The brutality of the fighting, the deaths, the displacement and the injuries has caused a humanitarian disaster in Ukraine. We acknowledge and commend the strength and the courage of all in Ukraine and note the growing national movement in Russia against its current leader’s aggression. We would like to help and make a difference. Two organisations that we believe are having a significant impact on improving the conditions for those suffering include The Ukraine Crisis Appeal and Voices of Children.
This is the preferred donation vehicle of The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations – the national peak body for 24 Ukrainian Australian community organisations. It is operating the appeal with Caritas Ukraine and Rotary Australia World Community Service. All funds are currently being directed to urgent humanitarian aid including food, clean water, blankets, seeking emergency housing, clothing and medical assistance.
Wilson Asset Management will also be supporting Voices of Children. This organisation is a local children’s charity in Ukraine that has been providing psychological and psychosocial support to children affected by the conflict since 2015. The foundation provides non-stop assistance to affected children and families from all over the country, providing emergency psychological assistance, and assisting in the evacuation process.
To try and support the people of Ukraine we will be raising up to $1 million for The Rotary Ukrainian Humanitarian Relief Aid and for Voices of Children*. Wilson Asset Management will match funds raised by shareholders and supporters. We are hoping to make a small difference to improve the lives of those affected by this crisis. Australian floods
At home, our thoughts are with those affected by the devastating floods in New South Wales and Queensland. In 2019, with your support we were able to raise over $1 million for Australians affected by the bushfires and drought for the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) Disaster Resilience and Recovery Fund. This is an invested fund that grows with donations over time to generate earnings each year to be used to support communities’ long term recovery. Wilson Asset Management’s early contribution encouraged others to contribute and the fund now holds $5 million.
