A message from our Chief Executive Officer
Kate Thorley: Hello and welcome to the fourth instalment of WAM Vault. I am Kate Thorley, Chief Executive Officer of Wilson Asset Management. I would like to extend my deepest thanks to you, our shareholders and supporters, in what has been an incredibly challenging yet exciting year.
In 2021, the Wilson Asset Management team grew quite a lot in terms of adding people on the Investment team, the Corporate Affairs team and the Finance team. We also welcomed Caroline Gurney as the new Chief Executive Officer of Future Generation. Future Generation Australia and Future Generation Global, or FGX and FGG, were founded by Geoff Wilson AO in 2014 and 2015. These companies were the first in the Australian market that provided both social returns with investment returns. We are really excited that Caroline will lead these companies on their next phase of growth whilst providing an impact for shareholders and also so many young Australians.
At Wilson Asset Management, we have been really busy with a number of capital raisings and takeovers this year. Each of these capital raisings and takeovers really does make a difference for all shareholders, both in increasing the number of Wilson Asset Management Family members, but also adding value for all our shareholders. We also listed our eighth listed investment company, WAM Strategic Value (ASX: WAR). This initial public offering (IPO) was oversubscribed and we cannot thank you enough for all your support. I would also like to thank our brokers and financial advisers that supported this IPO.
We are passionate about making a difference to you as shareholders and the community. When we talk about being passionate about making a difference to you as shareholders, we mean both investment performance and dividends, and we also mean how we engage and communicate with you. Another really big part of this is being advocates on your behalf. We believe we need to advocate for all retail investors in the Australian market.
I know you will enjoy watching and listening to our Investment team as they share their stock ideas, give you updates on the portfolio and share their market insights. We really look forward to meeting with you in person again, when it is safe to do so. Let’s hope this is in 2022, because I know the team and I absolutely love traveling around Australia on our roadshow and meeting with so many of our shareholders face-to-face.
