Distressed/Opportunistic Investing
WAM Alternative Assets invests across a range of strategies including private equity, infrastructure, real assets, private debt and real estate. The team have recently been focused on private equity opportunities, underpinned by strong investment themes with long-term tailwinds, such as digitalisation, the growing ageing population, increasing demand for food and the energy transition.
Deni also provided insight into a private markets investment strategy known as ‘distressed/opportunistic’ investing. This strategy involves acquiring undervalued or financially troubled assets, such as real estate, companies, or debt, with the aim of restructuring or repositioning them for future profit, capitalising on market inefficiencies or distressed conditions to generate high returns.
